The Cincinnati festival has released the line up for what will be it’s 10nth annual celebration.
The Cincinnati festival, founded by The National’s Bryce Dessner, has released what looks to be an amazing line up for what will be it’s 10nth consecutive year. The festival is unconventional in its set up. The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra performs with headlining artists to present a unique listening experience unlike more mainstream festivals that depend on elaborate stage antics and visual candy to enhance the experience. From March 11-15 of next year, Perfume Genius, So Percussion, The Lone Bellow, and Richard Reed Perry, from Arcade Fire, will join other acts and an entire symphony to create some amazing live renditions of their music. Bryce Dessner talked about the festival
Many of my most significant memories as a musician have taken place in Cincinnati during the MusicNOW Festival over the last 10 years. When we started, we were driven to create an intimate music festival that was as much a creative refuge for the artists as it is for the audience to partake in intimate and rare performances. We have celebrated works in progress and new commissions, new collaborations, and detailed music of all kinds regardless of genre or popularity.
The festival offers an outlet for artists who aren’t easily categorized into specific genres and therefore may miss the opportunity to get an in with the different festival circuits, who usually cater to specific genres in an amalgamation of similarity to please one target audience.
