Dr. Luke is suing Kesha’s lawyer for defamation. According to the Rolling Stone, Kesha’s lawyer implied that Dr. Luke is to blame for Lady Gaga’s sexual assault.
During a recent interview with Howard Stern, Lady Gaga mentioned that she was sexually assaulted by a producer in the past. For the duration of the intern, Gaga did not mention any names. In response to the interview, Mark Geragos sent tweets implying that Luke was to blame.
The summons filed in New York for the case states, “”Through the publication of these ‘tweets,’ [Geragos] unambiguously and crassly asserted that [Dr. Luke] was the ‘rapist’ who sexually assaulted Lady Gaga,” Geragos later made a statement that his accusations are true, which are also being looked at defamation of Luke’s character.
According to Rolling Stone, one of these tweets stated, “Guess who the rapists [sic] was?” After receiving a reply that pointed to Luke, Geragos allegedly retweeted the answer and wrote “#bingo”.
In response to the news, a representative of Lady Gaga said, “This ridiculous, manufactured link between Lady Gaga and the Kesha/Dr. Luke lawsuit is utterly incomprehensible”. He continued to say, “This simply isn’t true and how dare someone take advantage of such a sensitive matter.”
Luke’s representatives also released the following statement:
“Mark Geragos’ statement is completely false and defamatory. Luke met Lady Gaga twice for less than half an hour total in those two meetings combined.” The rep adds, “He has never been alone with her and never touched her. Neither meeting was in that time frame reported.”
Geragos is currently representing Kesha in lawsuit against Luke. She alleged that Luke has been responsible for multiple forms of abusive over the course of a decade. In conjunction with this lawsuit, Luke sued Kesha and her mother for defamation. Luke claims that the singer is lying through her “Free Kesha” campaign to end her contract. These lawsuits are still ongoing.
