Happy 20th Birthday to Vice Media! We have the footage from Friday night’s birthday party featuring Stephen Malkmus, Jarvus Cocker, Lil Wayne, Scarlett Johansson, and many other great performances.
Vice threw their 20th birthday party Friday night and invited all their friends. A crowd of fans enjoyed music from celebrity artists like Jonah Hill, Ghostface, Nick Thorburn, Lil’ Wayne, Karen O, and many more. According to Pitchfork, they heard Jarvis Cocker’s rendition of Celine Dion’s “Power of Love,” Stephen Malkmus’s cover of Black Crowes’ song “Remedy,” and Jonah Hill and Spike Jonze cover Drake’s song “Marvin’s Room.” Other things that happened were The Black Lips and Damian Abraham performing Jay Reatard’s “My Shadow,” a cover of M.I.A.’s “Paper Planes” by Terius Nash (aka The-Dream), and Scarlett Johansson covering New Order.
Here is the list of all the performances except for Nicky Minaj who had planned to perform but did not show up:
While at the bash, Lil Wayne also confirmed his plans for ending his long-time relationship with Cash Money and will soon leave the record label. Perfect Pussy’s Meredith Graves also covered the Strokes’ song “New York City Cops” after saying, “NYPD, everybody is watching. Black lives matter.” Pussy Riot then paid tribute to Le Tigre with their song “Deceptacon” and Cassie Ramone joined Nick Thorburn for the song “I Was Born (a Unicorn).” On top of all this, everyone there got free falafels.
