Steven Tyler, Billy Gibbons, Nuno Bettencourt And Robin Zander Join Kings Of Chaos For Johannesburg Shows

Johannesburg was treated to not just one, but two performances of a lifetime on November 29 and November 30.

Kings of Chaos, the idea of Guns N’ Roses’ Matt Sorum, is comprised of different members of legendary bands who unite to form a supergroup that performs each individual musicians’ greatest hits at designated concerts.

The group’s South African tour featured returning members Sorum, Gilby Clarke and Duff McKagan (all previously in Guns N’ Roses), along with new additions including Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, Robin Zander of Cheap Trick and Nuno Bettencourt of Extreme, Blabbermouth.net reports.

“You will never see Steve Tyler playing Guns N’ Roses hits with members of Guns N’ Roses. This is a unique experience, just for South Africans,” Sorum said during a pre-tour press conference.

This marks the second time Kings of Chaos has graced the South African stage. Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash, Def Leppard’s Joe Elliot and ex-Deep Purple bassist/vocalist Glenn Hughes appeared in last year’s performances.

“This idea that I came up with, this is like a release for all the other guys, because it’s fresh for them. Even though we’ll be playing all our hits, it’s all with all our friends and the buddies that we’ve met through years and years of rock ‘n’ roll,” said Sorum, “It’s really great, I’m really blessed. I look at it like I’m a kid that grew up listening to and wanting to play rock ‘n’ roll, and now I’m in this community of all these great musicians. So I said, well, fuck it, why don’t I take advantage of that and put a band together and go play?”
