Phil Rudd of legendary band AC/DC pleaded not guilty to charges of plotting murder and drug possession on Monday.
Phil Rudd, drummer of rock band AC/DC, pleaded not guilty to charges of threatening to kill and drug possession, Rolling Stone reports. Rudd was excused from attending the preliminary hearing on Monday at New Zealand’s Tauranga District Court.
Rudd was initially arrested November 6 after he was found in possession of methamphetamine and cannabis in his New Zealand home. He was also originally charged with attempting to plot murder, but the charges were dropped due to lack of evidence.
The prosecutor trying Rudd’s case asked not to disclose all details of the crimes the 60-year-old drummer was charged with, including the name of the person threatened as well as three witnesses, due to his public profile. However, a judge ruled that as soon as next week, this information would be released.
As Rudd prepares for his upcoming trial, the rest of his band members have publicly stated that they will continue AC/DC’s forthcoming projects without him.
