The headliners of this one of a kind festival are the tip of the iceberg. Set in Bogotá, the three day festival offers an eclectic mix of artists, as well as crafts and activities to keep festival goers feeling creative and interactive while lost in the savannah.
In the style of huge festivals such as Coachella and Lollapalooza, Festival Estereo Picnic covers a huge range of music and offers attendees an enormous swath of land in which to revel. Covering the genres of Rock, Electro, Pop, New Folk, and Alternative music, the set list, which you can check out below, is extensive and comprehensive. One of its most important qualities is its diversity. There are artists represented from a myriad of countries all at distinctly different parts in their careers. A mainstream example presents itself in the comparison between Kasabian and Alt-J. Both hail from England, but are in different stages of their journeys through the land of music: the former being an established band looking to make their impression on music more permanent, and Alt-J, a band still in nascent stages, whose newest release peaked UK music charts, is trying to figure out how to propel their success into sustainability.
The event is highly interactive. There are cultural activities and entertainment, apart from the music, that offer those who attend different outlets for their own personal expression. There are trade shows that emphasize counterculture mentalities, as evident through the promo poster’s aesthetic. The event is ultimately a hub for the creation and appreciation of art in a broad multinational spectrum that encourages the broadening of artistic horizons. The March 2015 date will be its fifth year.
