After releasing a new album in October, participating in Red Bull’s 30 Days in LA, and meeting a fan who was masterminding a Kickstarter campaign in November, Run The Jewels are back in the creative sphere again. This week, they have released a new video for “Blockbuster Night Pt. 1”.
In the past, there’ve been Hollywood film depictions of characters pretending to be police, and doing an inadequate, yet hilarious, job. So, why not a pair of rappers masquerading as EMTs? That’s exactly what happens in the video for “Blockbuster Night Pt. 1”.
Ambulances are usually a welcomed sight, when you or someone you love is suffering a medical emergency. But, if you’re one of the patients in this video, this ambulance crew might be your worst nightmare.
Killer Mike and El-P spend much of their time on the so-called “graveyard shift” (otherwise known as ‘night shift’) driving around Atlanta, Georgia, rocking out in the ambulance as they trade verses on this track. When they do take a call, the patient isn’t given proper medical care – and viewers are left to wondering if he even makes it to the hospital, alive.
Then, it’s coffee break time at a local diner for our pseudo-EMTs, and while they are there an older gentlemen has a heart attack. A responsible ambulance crew would jump into action, but not Killer Mike and El-P. They just continue drinking coffee.
Check out their wild ride, which was directed by Trevor Kane, below.
