The Smashing Pumpkins has announced tour dates in Europe and New York in support of Monuments to an Elegy, the band’s eighth studio album.
The series of shows begins in Berlin, then moving to London, Paris and finally to the U.S. with stops in New York and San Francisco. The band has said that they will add dates in Chicago, San Francisco and a few other markets. Joining the lineup for these special performances is Brad Wilk of Rage Against the Machine and Mark Stoermer of The Killers. Vocalist Billy Corgan says, “We’re absolutely thrilled and humbled to have Brad and Mark helping us out with these shows, and if our rehearsals are any indication they should be one-of-a-kind.”
Monuments to an Elegy, which features Tommy Lee on drums, will be released December 9. The Smashing Pumpkins have confirmed that they will appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live on December 10 and will also perform at KROQ’s Almost Acoustic Christmas concert on December 14.
The Smashing Pumpkins have released three tracks from the upcoming album: first “Being Beige,” then “One and All” and most recently “Tiberius.” In September, they released a reissue of the album Adore, but they have made it clear that they will not be performing for the 20th anniversary of Melon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. In addition to the winter tour, the band will be at Lollapalooza Argentina, Lollapalooza Chile and Lollapalooza Brasil in 2015.
