The John Zorn Song Project is a limited edition multi-vinyl 7-inch set that will be available for purchase on November 18.
The project is a collaborative effort between a number of artists, including Sean Lennon and Mike Patton. Each song features music by John Zorn and lyrics by a chosen artist that is then performed by one or more vocalists. Lennon was so excited about the project that he posted on Twitter and Instagram about being able to retire now that Mike Patton was singing his lyrics.
The set includes six vinyl singles, each with an A side and a B side. John Zorn conducted each piece, while Mike Patton, Jesse Harris and Sofia Rei provided the vocals. Marc Ribot, John Medeski, Kenny Wollesen, Trevor Dunn, Joey Baron and Cyro Baptista played the music for each track. Lyricists include Lennon, Patton, Rei and Harris. The limited edition set will be available for purchase on the Tzadik label’s website.
