English electro-pop singer-songwriter, Little Boots, has released a video for her song “Taste It”. The video premiered via Elle.com.
Little Boots collaborated with director Ish Sahotay to create the concept behind the music video for “Taste It”. In a press release about the video, she explained her motivations for making the video, along with discussing the meaning behind its overall colorful concept.
“I wanted the video to mirror the lyrics of the song, and comment on some of the trappings of modern day addictions in a fun way,” British artist Little Boots said in the release, “Whether it’s vanity, money, success, escapism, body image, or more abstract notions, “Taste It” is about that feeling of always wanting more even if we know it’s bad for us. I’m really pleased with how this video turned out.”
Many of the things that Little Boots lists above are featured in the video in detail – commercialism of products, lack of healthy food options, using drugs and partying to excess, plastic surgery to resolve issues with body image, and money – just to name a few, as the camera pans continuously to the right to change scenes. Little Boots’s main character in the video is wearing a dark fitted blazer over a white blouse, and her hair is colored a very pale shade of blonde. And, the song itself is supported relatively simple electronic track, which allows the images within the video to remain in one’s mind long after it’s faded into black. Remarkably, Little Boots created a video that has the power to start conversations about the quality of life in 2014.
