Grammy award-winner Gary Clark Jr. teamed up with rock and soul artist Cody ChestnuTT to perform “Gunpowder on the Letter” in honor of Veterans Day.
The performance video is in black and white, an aesthetic that fits the feel of the tune. The musicianship by both ChestnuTT and Clark is showcased with rhythms and solos, all while Clark’s smooth vocals remind us of what Veterans Day is all about. The song is fast-paced and dance-able, but not in an irreverent way. It relies heavily on harmonization between the two artists as well, causing it to be both soulful and folksy.
