LISTEN: Kitty Releases New Song “Miss U”

Kitty, the rapper formerly known as Kitty Pryde, has released a new track called “Miss U,” the first single of her upcoming EP Frost Bite.

Frost Bite will be available on November 18. It’s the follow-up to Impatiens, the five-track EP she released in May 2014. That EP featured the track “☆:*・°☆:* emob0unce °☆.*・°☆” a dream-trap track that dropped just a week before Impatiens.

“Miss U” starts off light and airy, picking up a dance beat after the intro, which gives it almost an ’80s or early ’90s synth sound. It continues at the faster pace, withe Kitty’s uncharacteristically soft vocals adding a poppy feel to the track. Listen to “Miss U” below.

The Daytona Beach rapper has also been releasing songs throughout the summer. The summery B-side “Marijuana” dropped in June, then the music video for it followed in July. The video followed Kitty through New York City in a rather topsy-turvy manner, perhaps explaining why she described it as “a grimey city snapshot of Alice in Wonderland.”

At the end of August, Kitty released two tracks: “Love Me Not” and “Me + You.” The sounds of the two tracks are very different and releasing them together showcased how they complement each other, and the range of music Kitty is capable of. “Love Me Not” is hard and in-your-face, with a simple but heavy beat. “Me + You” is on the pop music spectrum with a catchy beat and sweet melody and lyrics working together.
