The psychedilic-indie-pop artist Ariel Pink has released a new video “Picture Me Gone”. It is a highlight from his upcoming solo double album pom pom , which will be released November 17.
Grant Singer directs the video. It was shot across fifteen different locations around the Los Angeles area. Various characters in the video all wear latex masks.
Scenes follow each of them throughout their regular day as they try to look for meaning in their lives and find happiness. The masks definitely add a strange touch and there are some bizarre scenes, but there is also a vulnerability to some of the characters that is captured in the video.
The song itself stresses this vulnerability and this desire to really be seen by the repeated lyrics “picture me gone” (also the title name). We also see Ariel at random moments standing in front of a pink background while he sings passionately.
Ariel’s voice is highlighted. The tune is a slow rock tune that calls the 80s era to mind. At one point of the song, a whistling of the tune takes over.
Ariel recently falsely claimed that he would be collaborating with Madonna on her 13th studio album. He also collaborated with the Ex Cops only little while ago in a song called “Tragically Alright”.
Ariel is currently touring with his new seven-piece band and will be touring more in the winter.
