Liars have released a brand new pair of songs called “Poison Bender” and “At The Mercy Of Her Mind”.
The three-piece band combines elements of electronica and punk-rock. The songs do feel like a blend of many different genres of music.
The vocals echo throughout the song “Poison Bender”, making it feel very dreamy. The listener feels like he/she is detaching from the world, floating up off the ground. A steady drum beat does come in, but the bandmates play around with many of the instruments and can sound pretty odd, but also cool. Towards the end of the song, there is an all vocals part which has a strange, repetitive background vocal that doesn’t seem to really work.
The main tune of “At The Mercy Of Her Mind” is almost pretty and easily gets stuck in your head. There is a strange wooshing sound repeating in the background which keeps it fresh. The vocals are soft and feel dreamy. Again, this band plays around with instruments in this song creating fascinating music. In the middle of the song, the combination of sounds created feels a little darker than the mood of the beginning.
Both “Poison Bender” and “At The Mercy Of Her Mind” are a part of the “I’m No Gold” single bundle, according to Consequence of Sound.
Recently, Liars released a new video for the song “I’m No Gold” from their newest record Mess. Another video you can watch is for their song “Pro Anti Anti”. They also played at the San Diego Music Thing music and media conference in September.
