Dengue Fever Announces New Album The Deepest Lake For January 2015 Release

The eclectic Cambodian-American band Dengue Fever have announced that they’ll be releasing a new album entitled, The Deepest Lake. It is the first release since Cannibal Courtship, the band’s 2011 album. The Deepest Lake is to be released on January 27th, 2015 in vinyl, cd, and digital formats.

“The Deepest Lake finds Dengue Fever expanding their trademark psych/surf/Cambodian pop sound with African percussion, vocals that would make Exene and John Doe proud, sweeping melodies and extended psychedelic jams of songs that often time out after five or six minutes,” according to MusicTalkers.com.

It is their fifth album, and was described as their “most challenging record to date” by Senon Williams, the band’s bass player explained. Williams went on to tell MusicTalkers that, “We are entering our second decade together as a band and wanted to explore some ideas we’d experimented with in the past to try and capture a more expressive sound. Musically we went with a more raw approach while vocally Chhom Nimol came through with her signature power, intimacy and passion”

In addition to bassist Williams and vocalist Nimol – who also writes much the groups material – Dengue Fever is comprised of: Zac Holtzman on guitar/vocals, Ethan Holtzman playing keyboards, drummer Paul Smith, and David Ralicke adding the unique sound of horns to round out the lineup.

Two tracks from The Deepest Lake are available for download, now, if you would like to pre-order the album from the band’s Pledge Music Campaign. The Pledge Campaign also features opportunities to receive other cool prizes like an exclusive live LP, handwritten lyrics, Nimol’s dresses, and more – depending on your contribution. And, they are intending to tour in support of the new album, and tour dates are being put in place and a list of dates should be confirmed by year’s end.
