Stevie Wonder Performed Songs In The Key Of Life In Its Entirety

Stevie Wonder kicked off his tour and performed “Songs in the Key of Life” at Madison Square Garden.

Stevie Wonder opened up his 12-date tour which looks back at his iconic album, Songs In The Key of Life. When it was released in 1976, it was the most ambitious R&B album at the time.

The opening night, Wonder played the entire album with a handful of musicians and a great electric performance, as reported on Rolling Stone. The concert followed the album track list, but the show took on a raw approach, despite their long rehearsals. It was a celebratory event, which even featured Wonder forgetting the words a song and laughing it off explaining his excitement. The concert ended with an eight-minute rendition of “Superstition” and even Whoopi Goldberg appeared on stage to dance along with the background singers.

Stevie Wonder owned the night and Songs In The Key of Life will continue to make an impact in music and shows how timeless Wonder’s music is.
