Murder charges against Phil Rudd, AC/DC’s drummer by prosecutors in Tauranga, New Zeland just one day after his arrest.
According to COS, although the Mabey, Tauranga Crown Solicitor Greg Hollister-Jones concluded there was not enough evidence to warrant the charge of attempting to procure murder, Rudd still faces charges of threatening Murder, plus possession of methamphetamine and marijuana. Rudd could serve up to seven years in prison if found guilty of these charges.
AC/DC released a statement to Rolling Stone in regards to Rudd’s arrest saying,
“We’ve only become aware of Phil’s arrest as the news was breaking. We have no further comment. Phil’s absence will not affect the release of our new album Rock or Bust and upcoming tour next year.”
In October, founding member and guitarist Malcolm Young was diagnosed with dementia shortly after leaving the band. This news came after rumors began flying in April that Malcom was ill and that the band would go on playing without him.
