Darkness Falls has released a video for their song “The Answer”.
The Danish rock duo consists of Josephine Philip on vocals and keyboard and Ina Lindgreen on bass and guitar.
Philip said that they worked with her sister Katja to make this video. According to Sound Venue, the band was fascinated by the environment of the speedway racing sport and the girls who participated in it. They therefore shot a video documentary style for “The Answer”, showing what it’s like for these riders on a regular day at the track at Brovst Speedway Club. Speedway is a motorcycle sport where riders compete on an oval track with special motorcycles that use only one gear and have no brakes.
In the video, we are given flashes of the girls gearing up and preparing with their guy friends who are there helping them set up the bikes. Interactions between them, sometimes intimate, are caught on camera.
The tune has quite a slow tempo, but the sound of the beat feels like it somehow fits with the drama and tension of the fast sport. The singing doesn’t start until almost a minute in and the voice is soft, fitting well with the tune.
During the chorus the tune is catchy and there is good harmony. The first chorus is when we see the girls riding their bikes around the dirt track for the first time, sliding on the curves. Philip and Lindgreen are filmed standing on the sidelines of the track and watching the race. There is a sort of closeness felt in the images captured and the kids are all certainly interesting to watch in their dedication to the sport.
In the Spring of 2015, Darkness Falls will be back with their second album. Earlier in the year, their single “Hazy” was released.
