Sonic Highways cannot come soon enough, as far as I’m concerned. That feeling is multiplied by double or even triple having now heard the new single that the Foo Fighters have just released off the new album, “The Feast And The Famine.”
The Foo Fighters recorded their new album Sonic Highways in several different studios across the United States, and features a solid mix of different musical guests, including Joe Walsh and Rick Nielsen. Fresh off of the album comes a new single called “The Feast And The Famine,” song that evokes a lot of the classic Foo Fighters spirit that you’d come to expect. Recording at various studios across the country helped the group absorb some of the roots of popular American music over the decades, and that absorption carries over into both “The Feast And The Famine” and “Something From Nothing”, the first single released off of the new record. Both songs feature the signature guitar and vocal styles that we are used to hearing from the Foo Fighters, yet the tracks that have been released so far feel more fresh and more energetic than any other recording they’ve put out in recent years. It’s as though the history of music that they learned sparked a new flame of inspiration that burns ever brighter on Sonic Highways.
After recently finishing a five-day residency on the David Letterman show which saw the band perform with Rick Nielsen, Zac Brown, and Hearts Wilson sisters, the band has also confirmed dates for their Summer 2015 tour in support of the new record.
Sonic Highways will release on November 10.
