Klaxons Announce They Are Breaking Up After Final Winter 2015 Tour

Tha Klaxons began nearly ten years ago, riding the then new, unknown wave of music called New Rave. Now, after all this time and a wonderfully vibrant discography, the band has announced that they will be folding up the tent.

The Klaxons, comprised of Jamie Reynolds, James Righton, and Simon Taylor-Davies, formed out of London, England back in 2005, and were an indie band in every sense of the word right from the very beginning. Using money from their own pockets, the Klaxons purchased a studio set and went about releasing a series of singles, culminating in the release of their debut record, Myths of the Near Future at the start of 2007. It didn’t take long from that point for the band to begin reaching critical and commercial success, eventually releasing three more records and a wide variety of EPs and singles over the next seven years. While several tags have been used to describe the group, the Klaxons themselves prefer to keep it simple, stating their music to simply be “Psychedelic/Progressive/Pop” on their own Facebook page.

After so many years, it seems that the Klaxons have decided that it’s time to go out on top. As confirmed on the bands Twitter page earlier, the Winter leg of their 2015 tour will be their last as a group.

While they’re tagged as having been one of the progenitors of the “New Wave” craze along with such other artists as the Arctic Monkeys and Bloc Party, the Klaxons have decided that their time has inevitably drawn to close. It’s a shame to think that they won’t be releasing any more new music in the future, we still have a strong archive of excellent tracks to listen to, and that legacy is what will keep the Klaxons fresh in our memory for years to come.
