The professionalism and talent of all the CMJ artists is out of this world. The bands have truly displayed remarkable talent. This year’s CMJ will always be remembered.
The Walking Sticks came all the way from Washington DC to perform at this year’s CMJ, and it was definitely worth the trip. The trio is outrageously talented and generous, as they gave out free copies of their mixtape. Last night, the band performed at the Starbucks and gained a bunch of new fans. Listening to them last night was such a privilege and a wonderful experience. They have such a unique sound, combining 70’s groovy piano and guitar rhythms with melodies in today’s digital age. You might go into some kind of trance listening to their music.
King Holiday have been gaining popularity around New York City and the CMJ with their upbeat and dynamic performances. They performed at the Rockwood Music Hall last night, and it was a party. Every one of the members were dancing on stage while insisting that others join them. With drums, trumpet, saxophone, two soul singers, a tambourine and lead soul singer, the band plays funk, jazz, blues in a gifted way. Last night literally felt like a dance party. Almost everyone in the room at some point was doing some cool dance moves.
Handsome Ghosts have a lot of talent. The band’s performance was relaxing, as they played an electronic set. Their music is comforting and something fun to listen to when traveling. The vocals were probably the most interesting part of the performance, as the singer displays a unique talent with electronic synthesizers that distort his voice. The vibe it gave along with the rest of the band playing behind him had people tipping them during the performance.
There are over one hundred artists performing at this year’s CMJ. It is unfortunate that you won’t be able to hear about all the band’s that have played. But it has been such a great CMJ so far. Now there is only one day left before it is all over. Hopefully all the band’s will continue to create amazing music and have wonderful success in their pursuits.
