The highly anticipated album RTJ2 which was scheduled for release on October 27, has been leaked and released early by none other than Killer Mike and El-P themselves, collectively known as Run The Jewels.
In a slew of Twitter and Instagram posts containing links to the free download of RTJ2 which includes all 11 songs and full artwork, Run The Jewels let their fans know the new album was hot off the presses.
Back in September, mxdwn gave you sneak peak at the album with the single “Oh My Darling Don’t Cry” which features Michael Minslow of Police Academy fame, a song that was also available on Adult Swim Singles by way of SoundCloud. Earlier this month, RTJ dropped their second single from the album called, “Close Your Eyes (And Count To Fuck”, featuring Zack De La Rocha of Rage Against the Machine.
In their latest attempt at promotion for RTJ2, the duo began a Kickstarter campaign to create remix version of the album created entirely out of cat sounds called Meow The Jewels. On October 16, RTJ announced that the goal had been met, and will include Portishead’s drummer Geoff Barrow, Dan The Automator, Just Blaze, Zola Jesus and others interested in the project, as reported by Stereogum, and promising to send all the funds to charity (to the victims of the police brutality, to be specific).
If you happen to be in Philly on October 31, the guys will be taking the stage for a special Halloween appearance at the TLA.
