Panda Bear Announces New Album For January 2015 Release And Releases New EP And Video For “Mr. Noah”

Panda Bear will release his new album Panda Bear Meets The Grim Reaper this January. He already has his latest EP Mr. Noah out right now. Check out the video from the new song of the same name.

The founding member of Animal Collective has been busy lately.

Noah Benjamin Lennox, also known as Panda Bear, just announced the release of not only his most recent EP, but an entire new record set to hit stores this winter. He’s also thrown in a new music video along with it.

His full-length album is set for release on January 13, 2015. It will feature 13 brand new experimental tracks. You can pre-order the album right now, which will get you a little more bang for your buck. Fans who order Panda Bear Meets The Grim Reaper online will get a free full-length version of the EP Mr. Noah instantly. The release will also include a lithograph with art by Marco Papiro and a list of the album’s lyrics.

If you want a taste of what Panda Bear is all about before you commit to the upcoming record, you can download the Mr. Noah EP right now. The EP features four tracks, one of which is a song with the same title as the EP. The other three tracks are completely different from the tracks coming out on the upcoming record, so to hear it all, you’ll have to get both.

Finally, Lennox just announced the debut of his music video for “Mr. Noah.” The video is shot in typical Panda Bear fashion. It’s a trippy, druggy mashup of clips weaving up and down like a drunk frat kid. It follows one person after another in an urban complex, bouncing through windows and stairwells. If you get easily nauseated, you might need to watch this one in short spurts.

“Mr. Noah” is as trippy as its music video. Lennox perfected the strange and avant garde with his original group Animal Collective, and he takes it to another level with Panda Bear. The echoing vocals clamber through the chorus as a plunky backing track engulfs them. It almost sounds as though he recorded the whole thing in a pool of jelly. “Mr. Noah” uses repetition to its advantage, sticking the psychedelic melody firmly in the heads of anyone who hears it. You can’t ignore it, even if you wanted to.
