Accomplished Music Photographer David Redfern Dies

Renowned jazz photographer, David Redfern, has passed away at the age of 78.

David Redfern, who is known for his great jazz photography over the years, has passed away at the age of 78 at his home in Uzes, France, due to cancer.

Redfern was born in England and started out his photography career by taking pictures at jazz festivals. He had photographed famous musicians such as, Ella Fitzgerald and Miles Davis. Redfern also captured pictures of Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix before they became famous and also served as Frank Sinatra’s official tour photographer in the 1980s.

Redfern had recieved the Parliamentary Jazz Award for Services to Jazz at the Houses of Parliament earlier this year, and even had plans for future projects like an exhibition at the new South Coast Jazz festival in late January 2015, as reported on NME.

He is survived by his wife, three children, and five grandchildren.
