Ozzfest’s new moniker, Ozzfiesta, will take place May 27th to May 31st, 2015, with performances by Ozzy Osbourne, Black Label Society, and more. Tickets go on sale on October 17th, 2014 at 10 AM EST time.
Ever dreamed of laying in the warm Caribbean sand, Margherita in hand, being lulled to sleep by the sound of Ozzy Osbourne? You have? Well, Ozzfiesta is the event for you.
Ozzfest, which ceased in 2013, is back with Ozzfiesta, taking place from May 27th to May 31st 2015, at Hard Rock Hotel in Riviera Maya, Mexico.
Sharon Osbourne, Ozzy’s wife and manager, created the Ozzfest in 1996 when Lollapalooza refused to let Ozzy join the festival. Artists who have played at Ozzfest include Slipknot, Pantera, Marilyn Manson, Mudvane, Godsmack, Rob Zombie, Incubus, Linkin Park, System of A Down, Chevelle and Disturbed.
Originally held in Phoenix, Arizona and Devore, California, Ozzfest went overseas for the first time in 1998 to the United Kingdom. After years playing mostly in the US and the UK, the festival took place in Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan, in May, 2013.
The festival has gone through some changes over the years. In 2004, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne hosted an MTV show called Battle for Ozzfest, where hundreds of bands competed for eight spots in the festival. In 2007, Ozzfest announced that the festival tickets would be free of charge, but there were problems with code redemption and online sellers charging for a price.
The festival has returned to selling tickets, which this year are going for $1,800 per adult, $500 for children, and $100 for toddlers.
This year, the 5-day event taking place from May 27th to May 31st, 2015 will include:
An opening night “Welcome Party” featuring an acoustic set by Zakk Wylde, former guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne and founder of Black Label society.
A dinner party hosted by America’s Got Talent host and T.V. personality, Sharon Osbourne.
Ozzy Osbourne and his band will give a Q & A for the audience.
Black Label Society will perform a full set with members Zakk Wylde, John Deservio, Jeff Fabb, and Dario Lorina.
Other events include Osbourne Movie Nights, Comedy Club Night with comedians Jim Norton and Jim Florentine, and a charity golf tournament to raise money for the Sharon Osbourne Colon Cancer Program.
The event will close with an intimate beachside nighttime performance by Ozzy Osbourne.
The fiesta will be hosted by Hard Rock Hotel in Riviera Maya, Mexico. The resort includes three adult-only pools, a private beach on the Caribbean Sea, two family pools, a world class 18-hole golf course, nine restaurants, 24 hour room service, six bars, a teen “backstage” lounge, interactive children’s play rooms and activities, Wi-Fi, and $750 resort credit.
While Ozzfest is gone for this year, Ozzfiesta will provide a five-star Ozzy Osbourne experience for the die-hard Ozzy fans, and their families.
