Legendary band The Melvins is making a documentary about their history, and have set up a website to keep fans updated throughout the process.
The documentary is entitled The Colossus of Destiny: A Melvins Tale. The film will be a visual journey through the band’s 31 years of history, but will not be overly serious – much like The Melvins. They have already posted a teaser trailer on the website that gives a glimpse into what the documentary will contain.
The October 9 post on the website promises “pictures, teasers, and goings on in the making of the film project.” It also informs readers that the filmmakers will soon be making their own announcement regarding crowdfunding for the project. Expect to learn more about that in the upcoming weeks, as the website is supposed to updated regularly. Another teaser trailer should also be coming up soon. To make sure you don’t miss a beat, there has been a Facebook page, an Instagram and a Twitter account all linked to the movie’s website.
The most recent members of The Melvins include Paul Leary and JD Pinkus of the Butthole Surfers, who helped record Hold It In and are touring with longtime members Buzz Osborne and Dale Crover. One of the first songs the quartet recorded together was “Sesame Street Meat,” a Hold It In song released by the band in September.
