One of the seven SC3 satellite bands, Ishraiqyun, are releasing a new album called Perichoresis.
The electro-folk satellite band, Ishraqiyun, will be releasing their new album in October 2014. According to Web of Mimicry, Perichoresis will be the band’s second full-length album that will consist of all original music. The album will be worth listening to, as it is mentioned, “Ishraqiyun’s music is the stuff composed in ratio-based rhythms and utilizes non-western tunings & instruments (saz, sarangi, esraj etc).”
According to Web of Mimicry, three words describe the new album, “mysterious, catchy, and original.” Because the band plays with exotic non-western instruments such as a sarangi, their music usually has a very unique sound. There will also be 3 song cycles that are “clusters of compositions written around the same time, exploring often inter-related aspects of ratio, tonality and relationships in musical geometrics.” These cycles explore the mechanics and development of Ishraqiyun music since recording in 2003. As a result, several pieces in the new album will consist of various past Ishraqiyun band members from over the years as well as the “evolving musical ideas” of Trey Spruance.
Ishraqiyun is one of the seven bands of Secret Chiefs 3. SC3 is an instrumental rock group that was formed by Trey Spruance, who played guitar for the American experimental rock band, Mr. Bungle. After Mr. Bungle broke up in 2004, Secret Chiefs 3 became his main focus.Seven diverse satellite bands—Electromagnetic Azoth, UR, Ishraqiyun, Traditionalists, Holy Vehnm, FORMS, and NT Fan—represent the entire group called Secret Chiefs 3, and each band has its own flavor of music, ranging from rock, cultural, to electronic. One of them is heavy in the music market for films, while another collaborates with metal singer, Mike Patton.
The group released three albums that combined surf music, electronica, Italian horror music, death metal, folk music and Arabic music. The three albums were First Grand Constitution and Bylaws, Second Grand Constitution and Bylaws and Book M. They recently produced a seven band three-part album called The Book of Truth that will guide you through each band’s musical style. Part one of the three-part album called Book of Horizons was released at the same time, Spruance announced he would split the band into seven parts. The second part called Book of Souls: Folio A was released earlier this year, and the third part has yet to be released. Along with the three-part album, Spruance will release individual identity albums for each band. The Traditionalist was the first to release theirs. Although there is a lot to take in about this group, it is quite simple to understand. Secret Chiefs 3 is an eclectic group that produces seven different wonderful tastes of music with seven very different bands, but somehow you will end up liking all seven of them as one.
