World renown alternative rock icon Morrissey who has been hospitalized numerous times over the last year and a half due to many different health issues, has finally admitted that he has undergone cancer treatments.
According to The Gaurdian, Morrissey told El Mundo, “They have scraped cancerous tissues four times already, but whatever, if I die, then I die. And if I don’t, then I don’t. Right now I feel good. I am aware that in some of my recent photos I look somewhat unhealthy, but that’s what illness can do. I’m not going to worry about that, I’ll rest when I’m dead.”
In 2013, he was diagnosed with a bleeding ulcer, double pneumonia, food poisoning and was recently treated for a respiratory infection. When asked about doctors cautioning him to stop touring, Morrissey said, “It’s difficult for me because it’s very ingrained within me.”
“Now at an age when I should no longer be making music … Many composers of classical music died at age 34. And I’m still here, and nobody knows what to do with me. With luck I will be able to stop singing forever, which would make many people happy!”
Now at age 55, Morrissey is in the process of finishing up his debut novel.
After making it clear that he was recently dismissed by his label, he complained about Harvest Records heads, specifically how Steve Barnett “does not like artists to give their opinion.” Morrissey bade it extremely clear at a recent show in Lisbon, where his band wore t-shirts with the words Fuck Harvest across them.
What started with rescheduling tour dates to care for his ailing mother, turned into being treated for Pneumonia in March of 2013, postponing tour dates due to severe food poisoning, and canceling the remainder of his spring tour due to “horrendous cold” in June of this year.
To go along with the theme of his latest album World Peace Is None of Your Business, Morrissey finished off his interview taking shots at BBC taking sides on the Scotish Independence issue, the british royal family, bullfighters and the Beckhams.
“The BBC did everything possible to tilt the vote toward no and never reported on the potential benefits of an independent Scotland. They speak in the name of democracy only when it suits them.”
