Ex Cops have released a new track called “White Noise” from their forthcoming album Daggers.

Daggers will be the sophomore album from Amalie Bruun and Brian Harding, collectively known as Ex Cops. The album was originally intended for October release, but will now be released November 11. “White Noise” is the third track the duo has shared from it. An upbeat tune, “White Noise” has synth-pop instrumentals and vocals that make it sound like a hit from the 1980s, but the sound is current enough that it could be a radio hit today as well.
Bruun wrote about the personal experience that inspired the song: “I wrote the song in 2010 when I could not find silence anywhere and I went to extremes to feel/hear nothing, but no matter what I did I could not silence the voices in my head. So I had a white noise machine playing 24/7 around me to drown out everything.”
The first song available for streaming from Daggers was “Black Soap,” which even has an official music video already. That tune, which showcases both members’ voices, is infectious, if not as poppy as the new track. The music video displays a lot of graffiti and other city-related imagery, including tall apartment buildings with old fire escapes, as well as cutting back to the artists riding in the back of a convertible.
The second track made available from the upcoming album was “Tragically Alright,” song that Ex Cops recorded with Ariel Pink. That song features a rhythmic beat that keeps it steady and gives the song a relaxed feel, more so than the other two singles. Indie legend Ariel Pink provides a lot of vocals for “Tragically Alright,” with Amalie Bruun holding her own for the melodies.
