Devin Townsend Project has announced new tour dates.
Devin Townsend is a Canadian musician who founded the extreme metal band Strapping Young Lad. In 2002, he formed The Devin Townsend Band, a lineup which recorded as well as toured for two of his solo releases. In 2007, he took a break from touring and the music world, disbanding both Strapping Young Lad and The Devin Townsend Band.
The Devin Townsend Project was formed in 2009. It’s an album series with a different theme and a different group of musicians on each album. It was originally supposed to be four albums to show the musician’s four distinct styles of music, but he has continued making more albums.
The new Devin Townsend Project Z² comes out via InsideOut on October 28.
Besides a U.S. Tour, there will now also be a European headlining tour. Bands Periphery and Shining will support the Devin Townsend Project and tour with them in 2015.
The Devin Townsend Project’s fall tour in the US with the band Animals As Leaders starts November 17.
David Townsend has been quite busy recently. Last month, he released part 1 of 3 part video series . This series is leading to his upcoming Ziltoid the Omniscient album titled Dark Matters. Townsend also collaborates with singer Ché Aimee Dorval. Together they are called Casualties of Cool and in August they released promotional video for “Flight,”a song off of their debut album.
