Fans of prog-inspired rock outfit Faith No More have been hard-pressed to catch the band live these days. Since 2012, Mike Patton and the crew have only done two tour gigs. They’re downright elusive.

Think you have it bad? Wait until you’ve heard how long Japan’s waited.

United Kingdom and Poland fans have had their fix of Faith No More this summer, but it’s left Japanese fans without a single show in nearly 20 years. That’s almost two decades without marginally kooky alternative metal by which to headbang.

Faith No More is set to remedy that. The band just announced two gigs in Japan on February 17 and 18, 2015.

The two shows are part of a larger tour in Australia and New Zealand. They’ll be joined on stage in Tokyo with brand new rock supergroup Antemasque at the city’s Shinkiba Studio Coast.

Bassist Billy Gould sounded excited about playing Japan’s busiest city. Yesterday he tweeted:

If that’s not enough, Faith No More is also playing Australia’s Soundwave Festival just a few days later, coheadlining the tour with Soundgarden.

Faith No More went on a decade-long break in 1998, disappearing for what nearly seemed like an eternity. They surprised fans with a huge three-year-long reunion tour in 2009 called, aptly, The Second Coming Tour. They played dozens of dates in that short amount of time, and just when it felt like the tour was going to keep rolling on forever, they came to an abrupt stop in 2013.

Aside from two stints this summer in Europe, this winter will be the first time Faith No More gets back on a tour bus in years.

The band has most probably been pretty busy working on new material this fall. Their new album is set for a 2015 release, so even if the band won’t make it to a stage near you anytime soon, you’ll have something to hold you over in the meantime.

As usual, Mike Patton is also defending his title as one of the hardest working musicians of all time. He’s finishing up his new album with the supergroup he formed with Anthony Pateras, which should see a December 9 release.
