Talk In Tongues is breaking onto the music scene with the premiere of their single “Still Don’t Seem To Care”.
The four piece psych-rock band from Los Angeles was recently formed around the band members shared love of psychedelic music: from Pink Floyd of the 60s to Creation Records of the 90s. Guitarist and singer Garrett Zeile had songs that he had previously created that served the sound that the band wanted to have and they all worked together from there. The rest of the band is made up of: drummer Bryan DeLeon, bassist Waylon Rector, and guitarist/singer McCoy Kirgo. All the band members write and play multiple instruments and they all reportedly brought many ideas to the table.
Talk In Tongues recorded their first song “Still Don’t Seem To Care” in their home studio and it was mixed by Claudius Mittendorfer. It spread across the internet and led to them signing with Fairfax Recordings. The band’s debut album will be out in early 2015 and Kevin Augunas produced it.
“Still Don’t Seem To Care” is a song you would listen to on a summer drive on a highway with the windows down. The main melody from the guitar is very chill, but then a layer of fast drums comes in over top of it. The combined sound and overlap is unique. The singing is almost dreamy, like it is coming in from far away.
There is a harmonizing of voices about three quarters of the way through the song, a blending of high and low voices that sounds more powerful than the rest of the singing.
There are a few quality guitar solos and overall the music blends together very well, but then the end comes quite abruptly.
They are touring California this September and October.
