Janessa Slater, alter-ego of Saturday Night Live’s Vanessa Bayer, has released a new episode of Sound Advice, sitting down with alt-country trio Puss N Boots, which is Norah Jones, Sasha Dobson and Catherine Popper. With horrible advice, as usual.
Starting off with:
“I’m sorry, there must be some mistake. I thought I was supposed to meet with a band, not just a bunch of groupies,”
interview turned more and more awkward from there. Imitating country songs, asking the band members if they were self-hating women covering male-performed songs in their debut record, and asking Norah Jones if she will ever be able to get out of the shadow of there famous father, Indiana Jones, the band was really put in an uncomfortable position. And that is exactly what the good comedy show is supposed to be about!
Perhaps, the most awkwardly-connected-with-the-reality question was when Vanessa aka Janessa asked bassist Catherine Popper (who has toured with Ryan Adams and Grace Potter) if she ever imagines the crowd at those concerts were cheering for her. The question was followed by Janessa hinting they were never cheering for her, just for Ryan Adams. Well, every joke has some truth in it. Let’s hope Catherine left the show in a good mood.
