English Industrial-metal band, Godflesh released a new song via Soundcloud. The song is called, “Imperator”, and will be on the band’s forthcoming album, A World Lit Only By Fire.
“Imperator” begins with a driving drum beat and bass line, which sets the groundwork for this heavy track. Justin Broadrick, the band’s vocalist, does not come in immediately. Instead, listeners are drawn into the track by a minute-long interplay between bass, lead guitar, and drums that can only be described as eerie and ominous. And, as Stereogum’s Miles Bowe wrote, “it could have easily just stayed there and been great.”
