Is there anyone out there who isn’t familiar with Mary Lambert’s voice? She beautifully sang the chorus to Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’s inescapable hit “Same Love.” But her talents spread much further than “Same Love.” Aside from co-writing that track, Lambert has been hard at work writing her own album. The debut release will drop on October 14 via Capitol Records. The album is being dubbed Heart On My Sleeve and she’ll be heading out on a supporting tour of the same name.
In an effort to remove herself from the emotional traumas occurring at home, Mary Lambert taught herself how to play the piano when she was just 6 years old. Lambert released her debut EP, Letters Don’t Talk, in 2012. The EP peaked at number 18 on the iTunes charts. She released a second EP, Welcome to the Age of My Body, the following year. Earlier that summer she released her debut single, “She Keeps Me Warm,” which sampled the chorus from “Same Love.”
Mary Lambert’s upcoming fall tour will kick off in New York this September and Lambert will arrive in Philly on October 22nd. She’ll be performing at North Star Bar with support from Jillette Johnson.
