Calvin Harris has released a new video for his newest single “Blame,” which features British singer John Newman and is directed by Emil Nava.
Harris is in the video, along with Newman, whose voice matches the genre well and is strong when necessary. Newman successfully portrays the regret and guilt reflected in the lyrics as he sings sitting on a bed with his head hanging down.
There are also a group of girls that the music video follows who are seen going out to a club. The music at this point of the song is building and is more upbeat, which fits well with the shots of people dancing at the club and of a thunderstorm approaching. This climaxes with the girls all disappearing into pools of water. The girls swimming and twirling and losing themselves in the water is probably the most captivating part of the video visually. The music and the video together both strongly reflect the feeling of letting go and losing control.
