Very little is known of the indie folk artist Shakey Graves, but that’s about to change with the announcement of his newest single, “The Perfect Parts.”
Graves, who is also known by his real name Alejandro Rose-Garcia, recorded his debut album completely on his own back in 2008 and subsequently released the record on Bandcamp, where it quickly became one of the site’s biggest hits to date. “The Perfect Parts” comes fresh off of his upcoming album And The War Came, which is the first true studio release by the musician. Shakey Graves now finds himself on the uptick in the recording industry after being signed to Dualtone Records, the same label which records other up and coming acts such as the Lumineers.
The single incorporates flavors of electric blues and grassroots folk, and feels like it just came out of early twentieth-century American roots music. While it’s a little too electrified to be considered a truly old school recording, the sound of Shakey Graves’ latest single, with it’s toe-tapping backbeat and twangy electric guitar, gives the upcoming album a promising start.
“The Perfect Parts” is available to listen here, and the album is due out on October 7th.
