Former Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester has bobbed in and out of the music scene since the ending of the show that made her both famous and infamous. Now, she has released a song called “Heart Strings,” the title track from her upcoming debut record.
The actress-turned-singer has proven her recording chops by stepping into the studio for the first time to lay down tracks for her upcoming album, Heartstrings, an album that drips with alluring melodies and is filled with lyrics of love and heartbreak. The title track of the album is a mid-tempo tune that evokes shades of Stevie Knicks, from both the solo years and the records with Fleetwood Mac. Along with the single comes the reveal of a video for Meester’s cover of Stevie Knicks’ “Dreams,” which also features upcoming artist Dana Williams. Whether she was the girl you loved to hate or hated to love in Gossip Girl, Meester’s debut effort will undoubtedly tug at the heartstrings, as the album title suggests. You can listen to the title track and view the cover of “Dreams” here.
Heartstrings is due out on October 28.
