Second Track From Lost On The River: The New Basement Tapes, “Married To My Hack,” Released Featuring Elvis Costello, Rhiannon Giddens, Taylor Goldsmith and More

A supergroup of folk legends goes on revealing the material they’ve been working on for the last time. That is – Bob Dylan‘s recently discovered box of lyrics, transformed into ‘2010’s good ol’ masterpieces’ by Elvis Costello, Marcus Mumford, Jim James, Rhiannon Giddens and Taylor Goldsmith, under thorough supervision of T-Bone Burnett.

The band has released a second track from ‘Lost On The River‘ album, as it was called. ‘Married To My Hack‘, co-written by Elvis Costello, is a two-minute lyric video (what is a proper tribute to Bob Dylan’s legacy, as the lyrics appear in a second video in a row), followed by the colorful cartoons. With Elvis Costello as leading vocals and Rhiannon Giddens’ supporting moan, the song gives the impression of an energizing rock’n’roll trailer to the whole album. A good move, guys.

Unlike placid, Beatles-like ‘Nothing To It‘ track and video, ‘Married To My Hack’ feels like a loaded gun, without clear verse or chorus, and a song bringing the listener closer to the album release, which is set for November, 11, accompanied by Showtime documentary, set for release November, 21.

Watch ‘Married To My Hack‘ lyric video below.

The whole ‘Married To My Hack’ cast is the following:
Elvis Costello – Lead Vocal, Electric Guitar
T Bone Burnett – Electric Guitar
Rhiannon Giddens – Supporting Vocal
Taylor Goldsmith – Bass
Jim James – Mellotron
Marcus Mumford – Drums
Jay Bellerose – Drums
