This month, there will be a special concert to honor, celebrate, and pay tribute to the musical legacy of the late George Harrison. The first-ever George Fest: A Night to Celebrate the Music of George Harrison will take place at Los Angeles’ El Rey Theatre on September 28th, 2014.
The George Fest was made possible through a partnership with the Best Fest, and an incredible lineup of musicians, who have come together to perform their favorite Harrison classics.
George Fest coincides with the September 22nd reissue of Harrison’s first six solo albums, which were released between 1968 and 1975 via Apple Records, the Beatles’ label. The reissued package, The Apple Years 1968-75, are the songs from the six albums digitally remastered from the original analogue master reels.
The Apple Years 1968-75 is the perfect compliment to the 2004 collection of Harrison’s work, The Dark Horse Years 1976-92.
According to a press release, “the new box features an exclusive DVD with several video pieces, including a new seven-minute film with previously unreleased footage.”
Additionally, there is an exclusive book with an introduction written by Harrison’s daughter, Dhani, that features new essays by Kevin Howlett. Howlett is an award-winning radio producer and author. And, the reissue will also contain rare and previously unreleased photos.
Tickets for George Fest go on sale on Friday, September 5th, and are available here. (http://bit.ly/GeorgeFestLA)
