The CBGB Festival is returning to New York City for its third year. The festival is taking place from Oct. 8 to Oct. 12, 2014 in various venues across the city. This week the organizers have announced the initial lineup of entertainment.
The initial 2014 lineup includes: Jane’s Addiction, Billy Idol, We Are Scientists, Devo, and Dirty South. There will also be performances by R&B/soul singer-songwriter Macy Gray, musician Duff McKagan and many more artists. (Scroll down to see a full listing.)
In addition to music, this festival is bringing together music book authors like Galadrielle Allman. Galadrielle is the daughter of the late guitarist Duane Allman, and during the CBGB Festival she will be speaking about her father’s history on the road that inspired her book, Please Be With Me: A Song for My Father, Duane Allman.
There will also be several music documentaries screened as a part of the CBGB Film Festival. Most notably, a documentary on the late country music legend Johnny Cash and The Carter Family called, The Winding Stream, and the world premiere of Hardcore Devo Live!. Also, Spinal Tap will be screened to celebrate 30 years since its original release, according to Brooklyn Vegan.
