Filmmaker Tim Saccenti directed “Dangerous Days”, and it is the first single off of Taiga, which is due to be released on Oct. 7, 2014 via Mute.

“The song is a pure emotional plea, a future primitive call to arms. To create a moment of light in these dark times was our hope,” Saccenti said in a press release.

Regarding the cinematography and images in the video he explained that their style was to eschew heavy narrative letting “the images of the Earth, filmed in wide screen and mixed with a tense unnatural presence, wash over the viewer while Nika [Nika Danilova, the 25 year-old singer-songwriter behind Zola Jesus] communicates her powerful message.”

The nature imagery and costuming for some viewers may be reminiscent of the Lord Of the Rings Triology, although the press releases and video do not state that “Dangerous Days” was shot on location in New Zealand like the film series.

Zola Jesus, in turn in the same release, described what it was like working with Saccenti making the video. She said: “Working with Tim was effortless. His creative ambition to turn the abstract into a tangible feel is a rare treasure.”

The video premiered via Vogue.
