LISTEN: Amy Lee Releases New Song “Push The Button”

Sexy, mysterious, awesome. That’s all about Evanescence’s lead singer Amy Lee new song ‘Push The Button’ – a title song for Mark Jackson’s new movie “War Story”. Featured by cellist and composer Dave Eggar, the song is a whole big difference to everything Amy Lee has ever made.

‘Push The Button’ is an electronic track, with industrial and someway monotonous sound, perfect for the movie. The track is featured on ‘Aftermath’ – the music score to aforesaid movie, released August 25th. In the soundtrack, Amy appears in six songs out of 10, although ‘Push The Button’ is the only one she has made by herself.

About the composing of the soundtrack, Amy earlier told MTV: “For a long time, the director, Mark, just couldn’t find the right song placement for this one scene that he wanted something really different sounding. So I was like ‘You know what? I can do this myself,’” she explained. “It’s very different for me, it’s electronic; I did it all myself, which was crazy, because I’m used to engineering and writing and mixing demos in my house, but being responsible for that being the end product was a new challenge for me. It was like ‘This is it, I’m mixing this.”

“I wanted it to be completely different,” Lee said of her approach on the soundtrack in a recent Rolling Stone interview. “I didn’t want it to be like Evanescence just because I’ve flexed that muscle so much, I wanted people to see different sides of me … It’s one of my first chances to show another side and this definitely plays with a lot of the same emotions I played with in Evanescence, but instrumentally, it’s not trying to be mainstream.”

Moreover, she described the sounds on the album as being “a lot more like music I listen to now.”

Taking into account her recent interview to Rolling Stone saying she’s not likely to play with Evanescence anymore, and her desire to play songs like ones from ‘Aftermath’ further live, it’s time to get used to new electro-industrial sounding from Amy Lee solo projects, what we highly expect in her future works.
