New Jersey’s Lifetime was founded by Enuf’s Ari Katz (vocals) and Dan Yemin (guitar) 1990. They release their first record Background three years later. In 1995 Pete Martin (guitar), David Palaitis (bass), and Scott Golley (drums) were added to the line up. The band then released Hello Bastards off of Jade Tree Records. The following year Lifetime via Glue Records released a compilation of songs from their 7″ records as well as some previously unreleased material. Their next release, Jersey’s Best Dancers, came out in 1997. The band embarked on tour in support of the release, but broke up
shortly thereafter.
Band members went on to form and play in Kid Dynamite, Zero Zero, Paint It Black, Miss TK and the Revenge and other groups with varying success. Lifetime reformed for a reunion in 2005 for three shows. The Loved Ones and The Bouncing Souls opened the final show, which was held at New Jersey’s Stony Pony. A portion of the profits from the reunion shows went to charities like New Labor, The OUT Fund, the Nature Conservancy, and Linda Ann’s Greyhound Rescue Inc. The band played a few west coast reunion shows before announcing in November of 2005 that they were officially reforming. The band signed to Fueled By Ramen in 2006. The label released Lifetime’s fourth record Lifetime the following year. The band left the label afterward.
