A Look Back: Nine Inch Nails at Woodstock 1994

Two decades ago, Nine Inch Nails performed at Woodstock ’94, and mxdwn is taking a look back at the significance of their set at the festival.

The group’s Woodstock 1994 performance is part of what made them become such a big name in the music industry, but on a larger scale, it is also credited with bringing the genre of industrial music to the masses for the first time. Nine Inch Nails’ set list that night consisted of 16 songs and they played to the crowd for an hour and 20 minutes. A video of the full concert with remastered audio and video, which the band shared on tumblr, is available to watch below.

The original Woodstock festival was groundbreaking for multiple reasons, and Nine Inch Nails brought that vibe back in 1994. Their hard-rocking, genre-bending songs and attitude stood out and eventually made them a household name. Despite the storms happening at that time and other obstacles, they put on a great show for the audience. It may be hard to believe that this all happened 20 years ago, but in that time NIN has proven themselves repeatedly as a band that is worth the hype.
