Chino Moreno Announces New Team Sleep Album for Early 2015 Release

Team Sleep – the side project of Deftones’ Chino Moreno – announced that they are entering the Applehead Studios in Woodstock, N.Y. to begin work on a new album. And, the new music is tentatively set for release in early 2015, according to Blabbermouth.

Team Sleep released their first record, which was self titled, in May of 2005 on Maverick Records. And although the group has been inactive for a long time, they never formally broke up.

In a statement the band said, “For a long time, business people, logistics, careers, adulthood, families and the House Republicans have thwarted us, but we’ve continued to make music. At the same time, the creative process has become increasingly fragmented and dehumanized. With that in mind, we’re very excited to get together with our dear friends, hang out, play music and have a unique experience in a beautiful place.”

Team Sleep is Deftones’ Chino Moreno on lead vocals and guitar, DJ Crook mixing it up on turntables, guitarist Todd Wilkinson, Rick Verrett on bass and keyboards, and they are joined by the original drummer for Team Sleep – Zach Hill (ex-Death Grips, Hella).

The band is inviting fans to be a part of the studio sessions this time around, according to Blabbermouth, with incentives like cd of unreleased material, an in-studio Q&A with the band as they work, and a listening party for the new songs.
