Santigold, Beck and Karen O To Perform at The Genesis Emerging Artists Showcase and Celebration

If you live in the area or plan on traveling to Los Angeles any time soon especially on Friday, September 5, 2014, make sure you do not miss the Art of Elysium Genesis event that will take place at the Theatre at Ace Hotel Downtown Los Angeles. The Art of Elysium will host an expanded format for its annual GENESIS event.

The Art of Elysium is an artist’s charity that “is committed to healing the world through art by recruiting, supporting and encouraging artists to give back to individuals and populations in need globally using their creativity and artistry. By training artists in service and connecting them with those who need support, The Art of Elysium provides the artistic community with an outlet to use their skills to give back to the causes they care about most.”

This will be the sixth year for the Genesis event that will be presented by KCRW, Goldenvoice and sponsored by independent footwear innovator Supra Footwear. This event brings together various music artists, creative thinkers and social leaders in effort to support the Art of Elysium programs and mission. This year’s event focuses on curators choosing emerging talent to participate in a multi-platform show made up of music, film, dance and trapeze. The 2014 Curators include Spike Jonze, Karen O, Alex Ebert, Beck, Catpower, Shepard Fairey, Santigold and Jakob Dylan, while the curated involve SoKo, Rodrigo Amarante, The Garden, Nite Jewel, Mary Ocher, Moses Sumney, Nico Turner, Vorhees, Aaron Embry, The Donnies and the Amys’ and more.

The Art of Elysium Founder, Jennifer Howell, states, “Moving Genesis to downtown and The Theatre at Ace Hotel allows us to deliver on our mission of supporting emerging artists to the largest possible audience.” She continues, “KCRW and Goldenvoice understand two things that are very important to our organization; artists and community, and we couldn’t have imagined better partners during this important growth year.”

Independent footwear innovator and multinational lifestyle brand SUPRA will be sponsoring the event this year. SUPRA distributes to over 60 countries while fusing fashion, music, skateboarding, art, and street with a classic silhouette design.
