Radiohead hasn’t performed “Creep” live in roughly five years. They may want to reconsider the possibility of incorporating that into their live repertoire before Tori Amos goes and snatches it away.
Tori Amos brought the house down when she performed a live rendition of Radiohead’s “Creep” at the Beacon Theater. The song, which was originally released as a single off of Radiohead’s debut album Pablo Honey in 1992, wasn’t a major hit for the group right away (it didn’t chart until a year later), and resulted in the band being sued by late 60’s group The Hollies for having a similar chord progression to their song “The Air That I Breathe.” None of that seemed to affect Amos’ desire to play it live to several cheers and shouts, however, three nights ago. Amos has previously covered Radiohead’s “Karma Police” in other live shows, giving rise to the belief that Radiohead is one of her favorites and a potential inspiration for her own brand of music. Using her trademark piano and breathy vocals, Amos’ cover of “Creep” stands among the list of one of the best cover songs of all time.
