Kate Boy w/ Urban Cone, Kite String Tangle 10/16 @ Rickshaw Stop

Swedish electropop trio Kate Boy joins us once again this October at the Rickshaw Stop with Urban Cone and The Kite String Tangle. Based out of Stockholm, their sound is similar to Chvches meets Ladytron with a heavier grittier edge, and vocals reminiscent of one of the band’s influences, Kate Bush. Kate Boy actually played in San Francisco last June for their San Francisco debut and absolutely impressed concert goers with their stage presence, heavy percussion, and bass. What’s more impressive is the fact that the band writes and produces each song together; they even play each other’s instruments on stage. Kate Boy is currently signed to IAMSOUND and released their Northern Lights EP in 2013, which features notable tracks The Way We Are and B-side In Your Eyes.

Also hailing from Sweden is Urban Cone, an indie-electropop five-piece that formed when all five members met back in high school. Currently signed to Universal Records, their sound is much more bubbly and poppy than Kate Boy’s, and their self-released single Urban Photograph reached #2 on Hype Machine. Their debut album Our Youth was released last May. Fans of Capital Cities, Postal Services, and Neon Indian will without a doubt appreciate Urban Cone’s material.

Brisbane’s singer/songwriter/producer Danny Harley, AKA The Kite String Tangle, creates a sound that is a blend of electropop and sultry soulful vocals- not far from the likes of fellow countrymates Chet Faker and The Movement. Kite String Tangle’s debut EP Vessel was released just last week via Warner Music AUS, and he is currently touring his homeland before stopping by San Francisco in October.

All three of these talented groups is on the rise, and seeing all three for $15 is a steal- definitely check them out now before they surge the scene.
