Karen O, Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ singer, has prepared something special this fall. As special as her debut solo album ‘Crush Songs’, followed by a series of intimate live shows behind it.

Of the live dates, Karen O says, “I’m very pleased to announce that I’ll be performing Crush Songs to some very intimate audiences. If you’re in the mood for love please come join my crush odyssey at these limited engagements. I apologize in advance that these shows are so few but I guess that makes them all the more special if you can make it SO don’t miss out! LUV KO”.
As for her forthcoming album, it will consist of a series of lo-fi, bedroom recordings, made in 2006 and 2007. “When I was 27 I crushed a lot,” Karen said of the new album in a release. “I wasn’t sure I’d ever fall in love again. These songs were written and recorded in private around this time. They are the soundtrack to what was an ever continuing love crusade. I hope they keep you company on yours.”
In addition, Sofar Sounds will host exclusive first listens of Crush Songs on vinyl in 21 cities worldwide—including New York, London, Cairo and Copenhagen on August 27th. As a press release explains, “the events will take place at secret locations in homes and apartments where hosts will play the deluxe edition of Crush Songs—featuring O’s own words and artwork—for private audiences in each city.” Fans can RSVP at Karen O’s website.
